Decide who gets what training

Roles, day-1 essentials, levels and scheduled assignments.

There are four levers, from bluntest to finest.

1. Roles — the main one

People → Roles defines the jobs someone can hold, and which courses each job receives. This does most of the work: give someone the right role and they get the right training automatically. If a person's training list is empty, check their role first.

2. Day-1 essentials

Content → Day-1 curates the handful of things every new hire does before anything else, whatever their role — the safety basics you'd want covered before someone is on the floor unsupervised. Keep it genuinely short.

3. Levels

People → Levels defines ranks and what has to be completed to earn each one. This is what gives people a sense of progression rather than an endless list, and it's where required sign-offs are attached.

4. Scheduled assignments

People → Assignments handles timing — scheduling training, staggering it so people aren't handed everything at once, and gating access by time. Use it when the question is "when", not "who".
